Staff bios and photos ✍️

Write a bio and add a photo for each of your team — including the AI drafting tool, when it appears, and what it sends.

A bio and a photo make a real difference to how comfortable customers feel booking with someone they've never met. Both are optional, and both are worth doing.

Open Staff, choose a team member, and you'll find them on their profile.

Writing a bio

A bio is customer-facing — it appears where customers choose who to book with. Keep it short, warm and specific. What they specialise in, how long they've been doing it, and something human.

💡 A couple of sentences beats a paragraph. Customers skim these while deciding, they don't read them.

Drafting a bio with AI

If you'd rather not start from a blank box, Styler can write a first draft. Look for Generate with AI on the bio field.

The button only appears when it has enough to work with. You'll need the staff member's first name, last name and job position filled in first.

👀 It also disappears once the bio gets long. Past about 150 characters the button goes away — it's there to get you started, not to rewrite something you've already written. If you want a fresh draft, clear the box and it'll come back.

You can add your own notes before generating — a speciality, a qualification, how long they've worked with you — and the draft will use them.

What you get back is around 100 words in a single paragraph. Treat it as a starting point. Read it, cut what doesn't sound like your business, and add the detail only you know. It has never met your team.

👀 What the AI is sent

When you click Generate with AI, Styler sends:

  • Your business name and, if you've written one, your business description

  • The staff member's first name, last name and job position

  • Any extra notes you typed in

It is not sent your customer records, bookings, payments, reports, or your staff's contact details.

👀 These requests may be processed outside the EU. The model isn't available from an EU-only region, so a name and job title leave the EU when you use this feature. Nothing else about your business does.

If you'd rather that didn't apply to someone, write their bio by hand — the field works exactly the same typed. For the fuller picture, see how Styler uses AI.

Adding a photo

Upload a photo from the same profile. JPG and PNG files are accepted, up to 5 MB.

💡 A straight-on head and shoulders shot works best. The photo is displayed small and often cropped square, so anything full-length or busy loses the face — which is the whole point of it.

💡 Consistency matters more than production values. Five photos taken against the same wall on the same phone look far more professional than five taken anywhere.

If a photo looks wrong after uploading, upload a replacement — it overwrites the old one.

Where they appear

Bios and photos show up wherever a customer picks a staff member — your booking widget, and your branded app if you have one.

👀 A staff member only appears to customers if they're assigned to a service tier and have working hours. If someone's bio and photo aren't showing, that's almost always why rather than anything to do with the profile itself.

FAQs

Why can't I see the Generate with AI button?

  • Either the first name, last name or job position is blank, or there's already more than about 150 characters in the bio. Fill in the missing field, or clear the bio to start fresh.

Can I use AI for service or course descriptions?

  • No. Staff bios are the only place in Styler that uses AI.

Does a staff member need a bio to be bookable?

  • No. Both the bio and the photo are optional.
