Your customer list πŸ“‡

Finding, adding, merging and exporting customers β€” and keeping the list clean enough to be worth marketing to.

Your customer list is the most valuable thing in your Styler account. Open the side menu and click Customers.

Finding someone

Use the search box β€” it matches on name, email or phone number, so whichever detail you have to hand will find them.

πŸ’‘ Search by phone number when someone rings. It's the one detail you always have on a phone call, and it avoids creating a duplicate because you spelled their name differently from last time.

The list loads as you scroll rather than all at once, so it stays quick however many customers you have.

Adding a customer

Click Add Customer and fill in their details. Only the basics are required β€” you can add addresses, notes and preferences later from their profile.

πŸ’‘ Capture the email properly. It's how confirmations, reminders and receipts reach them. A mistyped address is the single most common reason a customer says they never heard from you β€” and neither of you finds out until it matters.

Customers who book online create their own records, so most of your list builds itself.

What the list shows

Alongside names you'll see Email, Contact Number and Created By β€” who added them, or whether they signed up themselves.

πŸ’‘ Created By is quietly useful. It tells you how much of your customer base is coming through self-service booking versus being keyed in by your team β€” which is a fair proxy for how well your booking link is working.

Merging duplicates

The same person booking once by phone and once online can end up with two records, splitting their history and spend across both.

Use Merge Duplicate Customers to combine them.

πŸ‘€ Check carefully before confirming. Make certain they really are the same person β€” a parent and child sharing a phone number, or two customers with the same common name, are not duplicates. If you're unsure, open both profiles and compare their booking histories first.

πŸ’‘ Worth doing a duplicate sweep before any marketing campaign. Nothing undermines a message like a customer receiving it twice, addressed differently each time.

Exporting

Export downloads your customer list as a CSV file for Excel, Google Sheets or your accountant.

Access is restricted β€” it's a separate permission from viewing customers, because the export contains personal data for your entire customer base. See adding staff accounts.

πŸ‘€ Once it's exported, it's your responsibility. Under GDPR you're the data controller for your customers' information:

  • Store the file somewhere secure, not a shared drive everyone can reach.

  • Don't email it around or upload it to third-party tools without checking what they do with it.

  • Delete it when you're done.

  • Marketing consent still applies. Having someone's email in a spreadsheet doesn't make it fair game β€” check their consent before using the list for a campaign.

Individual customers

Click any customer to open their profile β€” details, addresses, notes, consent, analytics and their full history. See the customer profile.

FAQs

❓ I can't find a customer I know exists.

  • Try their phone number or email rather than their name β€” names get misspelled, contact details usually don't. If they still don't appear, they may be under a different record entirely, which is worth checking before you create another one.

❓ Can I delete a customer?

  • Deletion is a permission in its own right. Bear in mind you may need to retain transaction records for accounting purposes even after a deletion request β€” see our article on data deletion requests.

❓ Why does a customer appear twice?

  • They've been created twice, usually once by your team and once by themselves online with a slightly different email. Merge them.
