Customers using your branded app can delete their own account from inside it. What happens next depends on one thing: whether they have a booking coming up.
Either way, they can no longer sign in — that part is immediate and can't be undone.
If they have an upcoming booking
Their record stays with you, and so does everything attached to it.
The booking still stands. It doesn't cancel itself, and it stays in your calendar.
Their contact details are kept, so reminders and any changes still reach them.
Their saved card is kept, so a no-show or late cancellation fee can still be charged if it comes to that.
This is deliberate. Someone deleting an app shouldn't be able to walk away from an appointment you're holding open for them, and you shouldn't lose the ability to tell them it's been moved.
💡 They can still turn up and be seen as normal. From your side the booking behaves like any other — you just won't be able to reach them through the app any more.
If they have no upcoming bookings
Then it's a full deletion:
Their customer record is removed.
Their saved card details are deleted.
Their profile photo is deleted.
👀 This cannot be undone, by you or by us. If they come back, they start again as a new customer with no history.
What you'll notice
There's no alert when someone deletes their account. The most common way you'll find out is that a customer you expected to see in your list isn't there, or an app user stops appearing.
👀 Past bookings and takings aren't rewritten. Your reports still reflect the work you did and the money you took — deleting a customer doesn't reach back and change your history.
If a customer asks you to delete their data
Not everyone will use the app to do it — plenty will just ask you.
Check whether they have anything booked. If they do, it's usually worth completing or cancelling it first, so nothing is left half-finished.
Bear in mind you may have accounting reasons to keep transaction records even after a deletion request. Deleting a customer isn't always the whole answer, and it isn't always the right one.
If they only want to stop hearing from you, switch off their marketing preferences instead. It's reversible, it keeps their booking history, and it's usually what they actually meant.
💡 Deleting is permanent and marketing preferences aren't. When in doubt, ask which they want before you do anything.
FAQs
❓ Can I restore a deleted customer?
No. Once a record is fully deleted it's gone, and we can't recover it either.
❓ A customer deleted their account but I can still see them. Why?
They have a booking coming up, so their record is kept until it's behind them.
❓ Can they still be charged a no-show fee after deleting?
If they had an upcoming booking when they deleted, yes — their payment method is deliberately kept for exactly that.
❓ Does this affect customers who don't use the app?
No. This is a customer deleting their own account from your branded app. Records you created stay yours to manage.
