Your price list has three levels, and getting them straight up front saves a lot of rework later.
A category groups similar things together β Cutting, Colour, Nails.
A service is the thing itself β Cut & Blow Dry.
A tier is who does it and what it costs β Senior Stylist Β£55, Junior Stylist Β£35.
Customers browse by category, choose a service, then pick a tier. Every service needs at least one tier β the tier is where the price, the duration and the staff live, so a service without one can't be booked.
Creating a category
Open the side menu and click Services.
Click Add Service Category.
Give it a name and save.
π‘ Name categories the way customers think, not the way your industry does. Colour beats Chemical Services.
Creating a service
Click Add Service and fill in:
Service Name and Description β what customers see when choosing.
Service Category β where it sits.
Locations β which of your sites offer it.
Service Colour β how it appears on your calendar.
Booking Enabled β whether customers can book it online. Turn it off for something you offer but don't want booked without a conversation.
π‘ Service Colour is worth two minutes of thought. Colouring by category β all colour work one shade, all cutting another β makes a busy day readable at a glance.
The direct booking link
Each service has its own Booking Link that takes customers straight to booking that one service, skipping the browse.
π‘ Ideal for promoting a specific treatment on social media. Post about a particular service and link straight to it rather than to your general booking page β every extra click loses people.
Tiers: pricing and who does the work
Tiers are the bit people find confusing, and they're the reason Styler can handle a real price list rather than a flat one.
The same service often costs different amounts depending on who does it. Rather than creating three near-identical services, you create one and give it three tiers.
Each tier has:
Tier Name β Senior Stylist, Director, Graduate.
Tier Description β optional detail.
Tier Price, or Tier POA for price on application.
Tier Duration β how long it takes. This is what blocks out the calendar.
Tier Deposit β see deposit payments.
Tier Staff β who can perform it.
β οΈ Assigning staff to tiers
This is the setting that silently breaks availability, and it's the first thing to check when a service can't be booked.
A tier is only bookable with the staff assigned to it. If nobody is assigned, nothing shows as available β no error, no warning, just an empty calendar for that service.
Use Add Staff on each tier to pick who performs it.
π Remember this when someone new joins. Adding a staff member and giving them working hours isn't enough β until they're assigned to tiers, customers can't book them for anything.
π And when someone leaves. Their tiers need reassigning, or those services quietly become unbookable.
Split services
Some services aren't continuous. A colour might be forty minutes of application, half an hour of processing, then thirty minutes to finish β and during that middle stretch the stylist isn't doing anything.
Turn on Split for a tier and you can set:
Block A Duration β the first stretch of hands-on work.
Break Duration β the gap in between.
Block B Duration β finishing off.
π‘ This is one of the most valuable settings in Styler for busy salons. Modelling a colour as one solid two-hour block means nothing else can be booked in that window. Splitting it properly reflects how the appointment actually runs.
Controlling the order
Categories, services and tiers can be reordered so customers see them the way you want β most popular first, or cheapest first, rather than whatever order you happened to create them in.
FAQs
β My service isn't showing as available.
Work through it in order: does the tier have staff assigned, do those staff have working hours, are they assigned to the location, is Booking Enabled on, and is the service assigned to that location? It's nearly always the first one.
β Should this be a new tier or a new service?
If it's the same work at a different price or by different staff, it's a tier. If it's genuinely different work, it's a service.
β Can one tier be more expensive but quicker?
Yes. Price and duration are set per tier, so an experienced stylist can be both dearer and faster.
β What does POA do?
It shows price on application instead of a figure β for consultation-led work you can't price in advance.
β Can I stop a service being booked online without deleting it?
Yes β turn off Booking Enabled. It stays in your price list and bookable by you, but customers can't book it themselves.
